New Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD)
The New Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) is a certification for talent development professionals who are in the early part of their careers or whose professional roles and aspirations are focused on a few areas of expertise. The competencies included in the APTD are the basics of talent development that professionals can use every day, no matter the level within an organization or company. It may be a destination for some or a stepping stone to the CPLP for others.
To be eligible for the APTD program, candidates must:
- Have at least three years of work experience in the talent development field or related discipline. Related disciplines include human resources, higher education or similar AND
- Complete 28 hours of professional development in talent development within the last three years.
AIRS
AIRS offers the Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR), the organization’s most widely recognized talent acquisition credential, and a number of other certifications, including the Advanced Certified Internet Recruiter (ACIR) and the Professional Recruiter Certification (PRC).
- AIRS Certified Diversity Recruiter (CDR)
The AIRS Certified Diversity Recruiter provides recruiters, sourcers and talent acquisition professionals the opportunity to learn strategies to help them create and improve their diversity and inclusion talent acquisition practices. AIRS helps clients learn to locate and leverage diverse candidate pools with a variety of resources, including Boolean search techniques and effective keywords that can be added to any sourcing strategy. The course is offered online as a one day (eight hour) session or as a two day (four hours per day) session, and costs $995.00
- The AIRS Professional Recruitment Certification (PRC)
The AIRS Professional Recruitment Certification course is a full cycle recruitment training program that helps Recruiting and Human Resource professionals learn to think strategically about the talent acquisition process. It is ideal for all talent acquisition professionals looking to make an impact in their organization. The course is available online as a one day(eight hour) session or two day (four hours per day) session, and costs $995.00.

HR Certification Institute (HRCI)
Earning a credential from HRCI® speaks volumes ― about you as an HR professional, about the organization you serve and about the employees who put their trust in you. An HRCI certification distinguishes you as a expert in the HR field, with proven levels of skills and knowledge, and the competence necessary to mitigate risks and drive business results.
They offer a variety of courses as listed below
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
The PHR, offered by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI), aims at those responsible for HR management and program implementation, while ensuring adherence to applicable U.S. laws and regulations.
The three-hour PHR exam, available through Prometric, covers workforce planning and employment, employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, HR development, business management and strategy, and risk management. You must have at least one year of professional HR experience with a master’s degree, two years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or four years with a high school diploma. The single exam costs $395 plus a $100 application fee, and the certification is valid for three years.
- Associate Professional in Human Resources- International (aPHRi)
If you are new to HR and want to distinguish yourself early on, the Associate Professional in Human Resources – International™ (aPHRi™) from HRCI is the perfect certification to help propel your career growth and provide you with the confidence to launch into the HR profession. You must have a high school diploma or global equivalent. No HR experience is required since this is a knowledge-based credential. The single exam costs $300 plus $100 application fees.
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
Another HRCI certification, the SPHR, covers many of the same topics as the PHR but with a focus on strategy and policymaking. The experience requirements are more stringent: Candidates must have at least four years of professional HR experience and a master’s degree, or increasing levels of experience with a bachelor’s degree or high school diploma. As with the PHR, candidates must pay a $100 application fee and $395 for the exam.
- Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR)
The GPHR demonstrates your expertise of multinational HR responsibilities, including strategies of globalization development of HR policies and initiatives that support organizational global growth. Candidates must Have at least two years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Master’s degree or higher or have at least three years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor’s degree or have at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a high school diploma.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

- SHRM CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL (SHRM-CP)
HR professionals who implement policies and strategies, serve as point of contact for staff and stakeholders, deliver HR services, and perform operational HR functions, should take the SHRM-CP exam.
The SHRM-CP has specific work/education requirements, starting with three or four years of experience for those with less than a bachelor’s degree. (See the SHRM-CP page for details.) The four-hour exam has 160 questions, which include a mix of knowledge items and situational judgment items. The exam is available during two annual windows of time – spring and winter – and SHRM members pay $300 (the nonmember price is $400).
- SHRM SENIOR CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL (SHRM-SCP)
HR professionals who develop strategies, lead the HR function, foster influence in the community, analyze performance metrics, and align HR strategies to organizational goals, should take the SHRM-SCP exam.
The SHRM-SCP has specific work/educational requirements, starting with 6 or 7 years for those with less than a bachelor’s degree. The four hour exam has 160 questions. Which includes a mix of knowledge items and situational judgement items. The exam is available during spring and winter and SHRM members pay $300 (the nonmember price is $400).
